Offensive Concepts
The Motion Offense
Players constantly move and interchange positions. The ball moves faster than defenders. Off-ball movement creates open lanes and picks.
Dodges
- Split dodge: Switch hands while changing direction — the most common dodge
- Face dodge: Fake to one side, pull the stick across your face to the other
- Roll dodge: Seal the defender, spin 360°, protect the stick with your body
- Bull dodge: Straight through the defender. Power move.
Feeding the Crease
Passing to an attacker cutting through the crease (area directly in front of goal). Quick-stick goals from crease feeds are high-percentage scoring plays.
Behind the Goal (X)
Lacrosse is unique — teams can operate from behind the goal. This area (called X) is used to set up plays, dodge, and feed cutters.
The ball should never stop moving. The offense that passes and moves will always beat the offense that holds and dodges 1-on-1 every time.
