10-Minute Ground Ball Drill
Goal: win loose balls cleanly — get low, scoop through, protect the stick.
1) Stationary scoops (3 minutes)
- Place ball, approach, scoop through in one motion
- “Get low, hands down, scoop and cradle away”
- 10 reps each hand
2) Rolling ground balls (3 minutes)
- Roll the ball 5–10 feet, chase it, scoop on the run
- Run through the ball — don’t stop over it
3) Contested approach (2 minutes)
- After scooping, immediately cradle and change direction
4) Scoop and pass (2 minutes)
- Scoop, cradle once, hit the wall or a target
Ground balls win games. The team that gets more ground balls almost always wins.
